Hello Everyone,
We all know the one reason our customers come to our Open house is for the Kiffles!
Gayle's Kiffles are well known by all our customers & now she wants to share them with you!
These are a little time consuming, but are delicious! Please let us know if you make them!
Original Recipe for Kiffles=120 balls
Preheat oven to 375°
Cover cookie sheets with parchment paper
Ingredients
1lb butter
1lb Crisco
8 cups unbleached flour (King Arthur)
4 eggs
2 cakes yeast
2 tbl white vinegar
8 oz (cup) sour cream
Salt
Filling: Bakers or Solo fillings
Directions
Cut butter and Crisco into flour and pinch of salt with pastry blender
Add eggs and sour cream mix with hands or I use kitchen aid with dough hook attachment
Dissolve yeast in vinegar then add to mix
Shape into 4 balls
Wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least overnight
Take out one ball at a time
Spread powdered sugar on a board
Break off workable amounts to roll out with pastry roller till thickness you prefer
Always keep lots of powdered sugar on board and dough
Cut approximately 2.5 to 3 inch round shapes out with a plastic cup
Fill each round with half tsp filling
Roll in crescent shape, place on parchment covered cookie sheet
Bake at 375 degrees for 12 min till lightly browned
Remove from pan to cool
